About
For more than 20 years, vocalist/guitaristΒ Michael PoulsenΒ has been spearheading Danish rock and roll machineΒ Volbeat, releasing eight full-lengths, selling millions of albums, and filling stadiums worldwide. Before frontingΒ Volbeat, however,Β PoulsenΒ formed the death metal bandΒ Dominus, which recorded four fast, brutal albums in the mid-β90s. WhenΒ PoulsenΒ was putting together songs forΒ Volbeatβs 2021 album,Β Servant Of The Mind, he wrote a bunch of death metal riffs and saved them on his phone. Then, when he was done with theΒ VolbeatΒ record, he reopened the rusty gates to Armageddon and started putting together songs for his new death metal bandΒ Asinhell, whose debut albumΒ Impii HoraΒ (Latin for Ungodly Hour), is a tribute toΒ Poulsenβs favorite old-school groups. The songs are rooted in crushing riffs yet injected with strong guitar hooks and shout-along refrains.
Impii Hora was released on 29 September via Metal Blade.
