About

Of Mice & Men is a metalcore/alternative metal band formed in Costa Mesa, California in 2009 by Austin Carlile and Jaxin Hall after Carlile’s departure from Attack Attack! The name of the band is derived from John Steinbeck’s novel of the same title.

The current line-up consists of Phil Manansala (guitar), Valentino Arteaga (ex. Lower Definition; drums), Aaron Pauley (ex. Jamie’s Elsewhere; vocals/bass guitar) and Alan Ashby (guitar).

Shortly after forming, Carlile and Hall enlisted the help of Though She Wrote to create their first collaborative demo track “Seven Thousand Miles for What?” and later began recruiting the remaining band members.

DEFECTS

Defects‘ debut album, “Modern Error,” is a deeply personal exploration of raw emotion. Led by singer Tony Maue, the band delves into existential anxieties prevalent in contemporary life. Each track serves as a conduit for Maue’s reflections and serves to unite the band’s shared experiences.
Formed in 2019, Defects comprises Maue, guitarists Luke Genders and James Threadwell, bassist David Silver, and drummer Harry Jennings. Their music is a candid expression of inner turmoil and a testament to the band’s collective journey.
Defects isn’t just a band; it’s a collective of individuals bonded by shared experiences. Maue’s long-held affinity for the name “Defects” underscores the band’s ethos of embracing imperfection and vulnerability.
