About

The Chameleons are a Manchester post-punk band whose hypnotic, guitar-driven sound quietly shaped dream pop and shoegaze, and whose influence runs straight through bands like Oasis, Interpol, The Verve, and The Flaming Lips. Discovered in 1981 by legendary BBC DJ John Peel, the group built their reputation on melancholic, powerful songwriting and ethereal, atmospheric riffs. Albums like Script of the Bridge and Strange Times are still cited as decades-ahead-of-their-time masterpieces, and the band shared stages with U2, The Cure, Bauhaus, and Simple Minds, yet never quite got the mainstream recognition, becoming instead one of those bands fans discover and hold onto fiercely. That’s exactly the following they’ve built: not mainstream fame, but a devoted, word-of-mouth fanbase across the UK, US, Europe, Australia, South America, and beyond, drawn in by their reputation as a live band first and foremost: intense, emotionally charged shows that leave a mark. With their latest single in over a decade, “Where Are You?“, already out and their latest album, Arctic Moon, this is a band very much still writing its story, not just replaying it.

The Chameleons bring that legacy to Rockhal on Wednesday, December 2nd. A rare chance to see one of post-punk’s most influential, least-sung bands in the room, live.
