About

The Sophs are a 6-piece band from Los Angeles who have quickly emerged as one of the most exciting new names in alternative rock.

Before they had even played their first show in 2024, the band sent a cold email containing demos, photos and a short introduction directly to Rough Trade founders Geoff Travis and Jeannette Lee. The label immediately took notice and signed the band, launching one of the most talked-about breakthrough stories in recent indie rock.

Led by vocalist Ethan Ramon, The Sophs blend indie rock, garage rock, folk, pop and alternative influences into a sound that feels both familiar and unpredictable.

After releasing a series of acclaimed singles including Sweat (2024), Death in the Family (2024) and I’m Your Fiend (2025), the band released their debut album Goldstar in March 2026 via Rough Trade Records.

Written largely in a home studio and recorded with an intentionally spontaneous approach, Goldstar captures the raw energy and ambition that have quickly made The Sophs one of the most closely watched young bands in indie rock. The album explores themes of identity, validation and self-doubt, while constantly shifting between musical styles.

The band’s rapid rise culminated in the release of Goldstar in 2026, less than 2 years after they first emerged on the Los Angeles indie scene.

What sets The Sophs apart is their combination of youthful energy, sharp songwriting and musical versatility. At a time when many new bands focus on a single sound, The Sophs move effortlessly between rock, folk, pop and more experimental territory, creating music that feels both classic and refreshingly new.
