About
Kraton
Evolving from death metal roots, Kraton set out to create a raw and vibrant sound by combining aspects of post and doom metal injected with a dash of ferocity sourced from other extreme metal genres. Lyrical themes are drawn from the bleak corners of the human condition dominated by the arduousness of our shared mortal coil.
They invite you to celebrate the release of their first full-length album “Monolith” at the Club of the Rockhal on November 09 2024. Support by the devilish post black metal quintet Asathor.
In their 13-year band career, Kraton have always been on the lookout to craft their own sound. The initial sonic footprint laid out by their first two releases “Ker” (2011) and “World Eater” (2013) was rooted in mid-tempo death metal and started to slowly evolve with their third release “Unto Arcadia” (2019), towards the sound they strive for today.
While these three records were recorded, mixed and produced in DIY fashion, “Monolith” is their first professionally produced full-length studio album.
The new sonic landscape is a mix of elements from post and doom metal. Heavy, atmospheric and maybe a bit less accessible. The intent of the music is to provoke and stir emotions within the listener, encompassing the whole spectrum from positive to negative. This is definitely no dance or party music but a journey of self-reflection, self-revelation and catharsis; a neuronal moshpit so to speak. Vulnerability on the one hand and brutality on the other, this is the duality Kraton are trying to convey.
